Practice makes perfect! Think of yourself as being light as a feather. If you have core strength (which you can get from doing lots of ab exercises), then you will be able to do this step much easier. You need that core strength to move you around quickly.

Watch videos of other dancers, whether it is Bharatanatyam, Ballet, or any form really. Read books or magazines for dancers to get inspired by their experiences or quotes.
Reward yourself at the end of the week if you practice as much as you’re supposed to. Keep a practice log to record how much you do.
Not everyone is able to do their Arangetram, so remind yourself every day how luck you are to reach this goal. And also how lucky you are to be a talented dancer. :)

This might be late, but you could give him/her dance-related books (there are many new and great books on Bharatanatyam). CDs of new dance music, or something Nataraja-related (poster, murthi, etc).
My dance teacher loves chocolate, so I usually give her a bar of a really fancy chocolate brand. If you know your teacher likes something specific, or needs something for the dance school, you could give him/her that too.

At my school, we sew pantyliners into the underarms of the dance blouses! They help to absorb the sweat (everyone gets sweat stains no matter what — it’s so inevitable lol). Try this option which seems to do the job! :)
